What actually happens during a PPF install? I want to know before I hand over my keys
I am planning to get paint protection film on my new car in the next couple of weeks and I realised something funny, I have no idea what actually happens during the installation. I have watched a few videos online but they are mostly edited nicely and skip the boring parts, so I wanted to ask people here who have actually sat through the process or at least seen their car before and after. My main worry is how much of my car gets taken apart. Do they remove bumpers and lights or do they work around them. I read somewhere that good installers remove door handles and badges for a cleaner finish but that sounds scary on a brand new car. Also how do they deal with the film stretching around curves, is it heat or just skill or both. I found a write up about the PPF installation process in Abu Dhabi and it walked through the prep, the cutting, the squeegeeing and the curing, which honestly helped a lot, but I still want real world stories from people here. How long did your install take. Did the shop let you watch or did they ask you to leave. Did anyone notice any cutting marks on the paint after the film was applied because that is my biggest fear. And what does the first week look like, do you have to avoid washing or parking in the sun check here https://paintprotectionfilm.ae/car-ppf-installation-in-abu-dhabi-process. If you have gone through this recently please share the details because I would rather know what to expect than be surprised. Thanks.
