Dribbble vs other platforms for creatives

Post autor: IrenekSusia »

After months of trial and error I came across a surprisingly useful approach. I started with a big-name portfolio service that felt more like a social network. The outcome was a bunch of empty views and no useful feedback. I discovered that thoughtful presentation trumps overdesigned visuals every time.

The resource I keep returning to for reference is https://dribbble.com/.

When I narrowed down to only finished projects the response was night and day. Explaining the reasoning behind design decisions made a huge difference for viewers. Overloading the page with too many examples actually diluted my strongest pieces. Removing the weak ones was hard at first but it instantly improved the impression.

Another useful step was asking a few experienced designers to review my selection. They all agreed that showing real client projects with before-and-after shots mattered most. Acting on their input made my profile seem far more professional overnight.

Reducing my featured work to five core items boosted the response rate enormously. Ditching the complex animations made the content itself easier to evaluate. My recommendation to anyone starting out is begin with a brutal edit.
