Last Saturday I decided to stop paying for every little thing and change my own car battery, and now I am sitting here a bit proud and a bit worried at the same time. My car is a Chevrolet Cruze, about six years old, and the old battery had been giving me slow starts for weeks. I watched two videos, borrowed a spanner set from my neighbor Rashid, and did the whole thing in the parking area in around forty minutes, which felt like a big win for someone who usually calls for help even to check tyre pressure. The car started on the first try afterwards, so I was happy. But then little things began bothering me. The clock went back to zero, the radio asked for a code I did not have, and one window now goes up only if I hold the button for a few seconds, which never happened before. Is that normal after a battery change, or did I break something? I also realized I did not clean the terminals properly, I just wiped them with a cloth, and now I wonder if I should have used a brush or something stronger. Another thing is the old battery. It is sitting in my storeroom and my wife keeps asking me when it will leave the house. I was reading around and saw a
Trusted Amaron Car Battery Dubai mentioned on a page about replacement and warranty, and it made me think about whether doing it yourself can cause trouble with warranty later. Do shops care who installed it, or only that you have the invoice? Also, which cable should be connected first and which one removed first? I did it from memory of a video, and now I am not fully sure I did it in the right order, even though nothing sparked. And where do people take old batteries, do shops accept them for free or do you have to find a recycling place yourself? If you have done this at home before, please tell me what you wish you had known, especially about the radio code and the window thing. I would love to do it properly next time instead of just getting lucky.
